Novovoronezh mother’s elder daughter handed to father

The elder daughter of the woman who died in Novovoronezh after giving birth has been handed to her father. This was reported by Angelina Severgina, the children’s rights ombudsman for Voronezh Oblast.

The nine-year-old girl was handed to her father immediately after the incident. The maternal grandmother drove the child to him personally. The girl is now with her father, and his mother — the girl’s other grandmother — will help him raise her. According to the ombudsman, the guardianship authorities are paying increased attention to the family. The girl will also receive psychological help from the district’s mobile anti-crisis team.

If difficulties arise, the child’s family will also receive the necessary assistance and support — the children’s rights ombudsman keeps the situation under personal control.

As previously reported, the bodies of the 30-year-old woman and her child were found on 15 July in an apartment. The boy’s body showed signs of violent death. The investigating authorities opened a criminal case on charges of a mother killing her newborn child (Article 106 of the Russian Criminal Code). According to the prosecutor’s office, the mother of the murdered infant was registered with the police.
