Novaya Adygea drone strike injures 13 with children
On the evening of January 20, residents of Krasnodar and Adygea heard several loud explosions in the sky. Later, the republic«s authorities reported a drone attack. A fire started in the aul of Novaya Adygea, burning a multi-story building and a parking lot with cars — there are casualties. 93.RU has gathered all the details of the emergency that are known at this hour.
Burning house and cars
The loud «bangs» were heard most clearly in the Yubileyny and Festivalny microdistricts, as well as in Adygea itself. The first explosion was heard by locals around 22:40. Some wrote that houses and windows were shaking.
Later, the Krasnodar Municipal Control Center (MCC) stated that no reports had been received. Also, the regional operational headquarters reported that «as a result of repelling the drone attack, no damage was recorded on the territory of the city.»
At 23:23, the head of Adygea, Murat Kumpilov, said that in the aul of Novaya Adygea in the Takhtamukaysky District, a drone arrival was recorded. A fire started in a multi-story building and on a parking lot, and the fire engulfed cars as well.
An hour later, Krasnodar Mayor Yevgeny Naumov commented on the situation: «I understand that the loud sounds of drones scared the residents of Krasnodar. I ask residents to remain calm. Operational services are working, monitoring the situation in the city. There is no destruction,» Naumov wrote on social media.
Around 01:10, the regional operational headquarters reported that drone debris fell on the territory of the Afipsky Oil Refinery. There are no casualties or destruction. According to official data, a fire occurred, but it was quickly extinguished.
Three strong explosions and glow
Many locals reported that out of fright, they decided to move away from the emergency site, and traffic jams formed on the exits. Also, residents of the multi-story building told a 93.RU journalist that the arrival was between houses, and firefighters arrived about an hour later.
«I was starting to fall asleep, nothing foreshadowed trouble, and I see a very bright explosion. My windows were blown out, I started panicking very much. I went out into the yard to look. There was a glow, I heard screams, it was burning strongly. They already allowed to enter the house, but I»m still scared,« one of the house residents shared with 93.RU.
«We heard three explosions, on the third — we saw a flash,» said girls working in a nearby store. «The management told us to pack up, we ran home, while we ourselves don»t understand what«s happening, none of our friends and acquaintances were injured.»
«On the first floor, there»s a hole, everything is in blood. I don«t know how many were injured — they were carrying people out on stretchers,» locals say.
District-level emergency
Initially, according to the head of Adygea, eight people were injured, including one child. According to updated information, it became clear that the number of injured increased to 13, of which nine people were hospitalized, including two children. The injured have shrapnel wounds. There are no fatalities. Preliminarily, 15 cars burned, 25 cars damaged.
At school No. 29, a temporary accommodation point was opened. Then information appeared that a temporary accommodation point for citizens evacuated from the emergency site was opened on the territory of the Shapsug recreation base. The municipal administration introduced a district-level emergency regime. According to officials, this will help more effectively unite the work of all services and departments. In the morning, comprehensive work will begin to assess the damage and develop a plan to return to normal life.
It is reported that access to houses and apartments will be carried out gradually, as the examination by law enforcement representatives is completed. To ensure safety and property protection, the area is cordoned off by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD). Here, representatives of the district administration are also on duty, ready to answer questions from affected citizens. They will consult people in common house chats as well.
At this moment, people are being accommodated, they will be provided with everything necessary for comfortable stay until all the consequences of the incident are eliminated.
Updated: according to Murat Kumpilov at 10:46, a total of 13 people were injured. Nine were hospitalized. Two are in intensive care — their condition is stable, there is no threat to life.
Updated 2: local authorities reported that facades and glazing were damaged in several houses of the Vinograd-2 residential complex. Damage was inflicted on 12 houses, with significant damage in some apartments.
