New Turn in Vorotneye Accident Case: Witness Accuses Mother
The conflict in the village of Vorotneye, Samara Region, which has been ongoing for over two years, continues to acquire new details and testimonies. Law enforcement agencies must unravel this tangled knot of mutual accusations to establish where the truth ends and lies begin in this convoluted story that has split the small village.
After the publication of a 63.RU investigation into the multi-year village conflict, Alexander Kozlov contacted the editorial office. The man stated that he is a witness in the opened criminal case against Yulia Zorina and that she slandered him by accusing him of robbery.
We previously detailed her version of events: after the car accident in August 2023, in which her 11-year-old son was injured, the woman faced demands to pay 400,000 rubles (about $4,400 at current rates) for the damaged car, threats against her family, and, ultimately, the initiation of a criminal case against herself under Article 306 of the Russian Criminal Code («Knowingly false denunciation»).
Alexander Kozlov, in his statement, refutes some of the accusations made in the material from Yulia Zorina.
«Hello, I am Alexander Kozlov. Your article mentions Zorina, whom I know as a participant in the story involving the car and her child. Currently, in the criminal case under Article 306 of the Russian Criminal Code, initiated against Zorina, I am a witness. I have given testimony in the criminal case. Furthermore, from the investigator»s words, I know that a confrontation will be held between me and Zorina,« the man writes.
Kozlov claims that Yulia Zorina slandered him personally.
«I can say that Zorina slandered me by writing that in 2023, I seized her property through robbery. That fact did not happen,» he states.
At the same time, the witness emphasizes that he is limited in his comments due to the investigation«s requirements.
«I cannot tell you more because the investigator warned me about non-disclosure. In the future, the investigation will figure out who is right and who is wrong in this story,» Alexander Kozlov concludes.
Recall that in her interview with 63.RU, Yulia Zorina spoke about systemic pressure, which, according to her, began after the accident involving her son. She provided the editorial office with audio recordings of threats against her family, screenshots of abusive messages, and copies of court documents. The central episode of her story was the accident on 7 August 2023, after which, the woman claims, the person at fault, Olga K. (who shares a surname with Alexander Kozlov), and her circle began extorting money and threatening violence.
Yulia also reported that she filed reports with law enforcement about extortion and threats, but ultimately a criminal case was opened against her — upon her opponents« application. A court had previously acquitted Zorina in another episode — on charges of slander (Article 128.1 of the Russian Criminal Code), which was also initiated after the conflict surrounding the car accident.
Alexander Kozlov«s statement indicates that the investigation is actively working and gathering testimony from both sides of the conflict. The upcoming confrontation between him and Yulia Zorina should become a key moment in establishing the circumstances of the false denunciation case.
The 63.RU editorial office has sent official inquiries to the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Samara Region and the regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, requesting comment on the situation. As of the time of publication, no responses have been received.
