Nearly 60 Drones Downed Over Krasnodar Krai Overnight
A total of 95 drones were intercepted by Russian air defenses overnight.
Russia«s Defense Ministry reported a mass drone attack during the night of 5 February. The target included Krasnodar Krai and the waters of the Sea of Azov.
Air defense systems destroyed 95 fixed-wing drones overnight. The most drones were shot down over Krasnodar Krai — 36. Another 21 drones were destroyed over the Sea of Azov off the coast of Kuban, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on 5 February.
Additionally, 27 UAVs were shot down over Rostov Oblast, eight over Belgorod Oblast, two over Crimea, and one over Volgograd Oblast.
During the attack, around 5 a.m., residents of Krasnodar heard loud sounds resembling explosions, accompanied by a roar. According to locals, the «booms» were audible in different parts of the city.
The situation was commented on by Krasnodar Mayor Yevgeny Naumov. He said that in the morning, the Unified Duty Dispatch Service (EDDS) received reports from residents of suburban settlements in the Prikubansky District about possible falling drone debris.
«Information is being checked at all addresses. There is no damage to critical infrastructure within the city,» Yevgeny Naumov reported.
No casualties or destruction in Krasnodar Krai have been officially reported.
