Mother Reveals Truth About Russian Man's Death in London

Exactly one year ago, on 28 July 2025, 26-year-old Alexander was found dead in London. The young man from Yekaterinburg had moved to the UK four years earlier. Acquaintances put forward various theories about what happened, including suicide — the young man was found dead beneath the windows of a building.

On the anniversary of his death, his mother spoke about what really happened on that tragic day.

Military service and searching for himself

In high school, Alexander studied English in depth and played football professionally. His love for sports stayed with him all his life.

“After finishing school, Sasha initially wanted to apply to become a pilot, but he didn«t have enough points. When the draft notice came, he immediately said: »I will join the army.« He served in the Far East, then returned. A couple of weeks after demobilisation, my son left for St Petersburg. Petersburg drew him in, he really liked the city. There he worked at an electronics retail chain,” shared his mother, Olga.

At that time, the young man wanted to retake his exams and try to get into university, but the coronavirus pandemic caused problems. He postponed the process.

Moving to London

“In 2020–2021, he became excited about the idea of living abroad. Together with a friend, they decided to move to London on a work visa to work on a strawberry farm. He informed me and relatives only after the fact, once he had already made the decision. Before that, he had deliberately saved up money. He said that I had raised him that way — that you should try new things, seek opportunities, and fulfil yourself. And indeed, there was no point in arguing, I supported him,” Olga explained.

Alexander lived in the UK for about four years. He worked on a farm for a while, then in catering. In 2025, according to his mother, he decided to apply for permanent residence in the country. The first time he was refused, and he resubmitted the documents. The review was scheduled for October 2025.

“He lived there and enjoyed life. He developed himself, improved his language skills, visited museums, made friends, worked, and rested. He volunteered, helping distribute food to the homeless. He was a very kind person with an open soul, always ready to help, always smiling, no matter what difficulties arose.

We talked on the phone every day; we had a very warm, trusting, and friendly relationship. In July, he began to say he didn«t want to wait for the documents, that he missed home and wanted to come to Russia for at least a couple of months, and then think about where to go next. Around 20 July, he said he was picking out tickets, calculating everything, and said: »Mummy, wait, I«ll be home in a week.» But that didn«t happen.”

His mother stresses that Alexander had goals. After returning to Russia, he wanted to try working on the railway, and his big dream was to become a children«s football coach.

“He would never have crossed the line”

“The last time we spoke was on 27 July. He said his phone was about to die and promised to call back later. It turned out he was talking to his father. My ex-husband and I divorced when our son was 15. He really missed his father«s support and wanted to hear that he mattered to him. On 28 July, my ex-husband called and said he thought our son was having problems and that he »hadn«t let him sleep all night.» Then it turned out that Sasha had died after falling from a height,” his mother recalls.

Initially, a suicide theory was put forward, but Olga refutes it.

“That«s nonsense, and his friends immediately said something didn»t add up. It was absolutely an accident. He told the friend he was in the apartment with that he was going outside to talk on the phone and have a cigarette, and then he«d go to bed. Perhaps he was talking emotionally to his father and simply fell from the height. He loved heights, but he would never have crossed the line,” Olga believes.

Alexander was buried in his native Yekaterinburg. His mother is grateful to her son«s friends for their help and support during this difficult time. Olga also said that in memory of Sasha, they decided to hold a football tournament on the anniversary of his death.
