Mother recants abuse claim, seeks husband's release via petition

A mother of several children from Yakutia, who accused her husband of molesting their 8-year-old daughter, has organized a signature collection in his defense. She claims that during a heated argument she falsely accused her spouse, and now he faces up to 20 years in prison. As of December 30, the petition has been signed by 44 people.

«I do not want our story to fall into the hands of unscrupulous people and become a guide for them — »how to get rid of a person and come out unscathed,« because situations can be different,» the woman wrote on her Instagram (an extremist organization banned in Russia).

As reported by 14.RU, Darima said that in October she had a quarrel with her husband Mikhail (names have been changed — Ed.) and kicked him out of the house. The man left, promising to divorce her. After spending the night in a garage, the next day he went out for a walk. In a fit of jealousy, Darima decided to take revenge on her husband. She confessed to her daughter that Mikhail was not her biological father and persuaded the girl to file a false report claiming that her father had molested her.

Afterwards, Darima contacted a lawyer at a Yakutia trust center and described Mikhail as an alcoholic, calling him a «degenerate» and «obsessed.» Although her husband tried to reconcile a couple of days later, Darima filed a report, and on the same day the man was detained and taken into custody.

The Investigative Committee of Yakutia confirmed to a 14.RU correspondent that the woman wrote the report herself and, since it concerns the sexual abuse of a minor child, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 132 of the Russian Criminal Code.

Now Darima is trying to prove that she falsely accused her husband because of an ordinary domestic quarrel. She is talking about this on her social media, regularly publishing posts in defense of her spouse.

Darima«s story was covered on the NTV channel and reported by local and federal media. The mother-in-law of the Yakut woman stated that aggressive outbursts from her had occurred before: she used to beat her husband, and he never retaliated, enduring it.

According to Darima herself, she has written several dozen statements to the police confessing to false testimony, slander, and false accusation. However, as she admits, the situation has not changed in three months.

Now Darima is accusing law enforcement agencies of injustice and asking her followers to help her free her husband by signing the petition.

«We appeal to you with a request to support the petition for a review/investigation of the case of M., the father of three children, whose life and the fate of his family have been threatened due to the injustice of the judicial system. Maxim is accused of a grave crime under Article 132, Part 4, Clause B of the Russian Criminal Code, concerning the sexual inviolability of a minor, of which he is innocent,» Darima wrote on the change.org website.

The woman also published a post in which she asked the head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, for personal oversight of her husband«s case.

Darima and her husband worked as emcees for corporate events and weddings in Yakutia. The woman has nearly 6,000 followers. She is now raising three children alone in the city of Mirny. Mikhail, according to her, is in a pre-trial detention center (SIZO).

«I committed a crime under Article 306 of the Russian Criminal Code — »False Accusation of a Particularly Grave Crime« — and for the third month now I continue to live a normal life: I sing, work, eat, sleep, enjoy life. At the same time, a criminal case under Article 306 has still not been initiated. Is this normal? Is this legal? I have submitted numerous statements of confession in which I admitted that I slandered my husband and prepared my daughter to give false testimony. But nothing is happening,» Darima wrote.
