Mother meets daughter found with stranger in Serpukhov
A 13-year-old schoolgirl disappeared from a garden community in the Moscow region on the night of 19 July 2026. She was found two days later, on 22 July.
The mother of the missing 13-year-old schoolgirl from the Moscow region has met her daughter for the first time since the girl was found. Natalia told MSK1.RU about this.
According to relatives, Vera (name changed — Editor«s note) is now in a rehabilitation center where psychologists work with her. She was sent there immediately after being found. Natalia was not able to see her daughter right away — only a day after the search ended did she manage to talk to the girl on the phone. The conversation was short and emotional.
«When I told her that we all missed her so much, that I just wanted to hear her voice, she started crying,» Natalia admitted to MSK1.RU.

On the evening of 19 July 2026, the schoolgirl left home, telling her family she was going to look for a lost ring. After that, the girl disappeared without a trace.
For more than two days, Vera was searched for by villagers where she lived, search teams, and law enforcement officers. Hundreds of people took part in the search.
Only on the third day — 22 July — the girl was found alive about 150 kilometers (93 miles) from home, together with a 22-year-old young man with whom, according to preliminary data, she had met online. As Vera«s relatives told MSK1.RU, her life and health are not in danger. However, the schoolgirl was not allowed to go home — she is currently undergoing rehabilitation in a specialized center.
«She really wants to go home»
As Natalia said, she has already seen Vera several times. According to her, the girl is gradually recovering, undergoing rehabilitation, and most of all dreams of returning home. However, a conversation about what happened during those two days and where she was has not yet taken place.
«She doesn»t tell anything because we don«t bring up any topics. Basically, she feels quite normal. She really wants to go home, so we»re waiting for the opportunity to pick her up,« her mother says.
Every day Natalia visits her daughter and tries to do everything to make her feel as comfortable as possible.
«Everything she wants, I bring: clothes, if she needs any, and food. So everything she asks for, of course, I bring her as much as possible so that she is as comfortable as possible and feels good,» the girl«s mother notes.
When will the girl leave the special center?
How much longer the rehabilitation will last is still unknown. Natalia says specialists do not give specific deadlines, and everything will depend on Vera«s condition.
«There»s no specifics at all. It all depends only on her. There are some criteria, but no one tries to stick to them, because everyone looks only at her condition. Maybe she«ll wake up tomorrow and realize it»s over. And the psychologists will understand that they are ready to let her go. Or maybe it will take a week or two. For now, we«re not looking at that at all. The main thing is that everything that happened to her is left behind,» the girl«s mother said.
For now, Vera is being shielded from the outside world as much as possible. She does not communicate with friends or other relatives. According to her mother, this is not accidental — too many rumors and malicious comments have appeared on the internet.
During the conversation, the mother shared another detail that helps Vera distract herself. At the center, she spends a lot of time with a small nine-month-old boy who also lives there without his parents.
«She babysits him, feeds him. Vera just has this habit of taking care of children, because she has younger brothers,» the girl«s mother shared.
According to Natalia, her daughter told her that the baby is just starting to walk, and she helps him by holding his hand. For Vera herself, this has become a kind of outlet.
Right now, the girl wants one thing above all — to return home. According to her mother, she has asked more than once when she can be with her family again.
The mother hopes the wait won«t be long. According to her, she expects her daughter to return home before the start of the new school year.
What is known about the young man Vera was found with
Natalia knows almost nothing about the man next to whom the schoolgirl was found. According to her, the details of this episode are unknown to her, and investigators are still gathering all the information.
«There»s no information about that at all. And I think the Investigative Committee will keep this information under wraps, so to speak, classified,« the mother says.
When asked whether this young man is connected to Vera«s disappearance, she replied: »As I understand it, directly.«
Natalia does not reveal any other details. According to her, she has no confirmed information about the circumstances under which Vera ended up with this person. Therefore, she does not venture to draw any conclusions.
The MSK1.RU editorial team sent a request to the Investigative Committee for the Moscow region to find out what is known about the young man with whom 13-year-old Vera was found. They refused to answer, citing Article 161 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation (Inadmissibility of disclosure of preliminary investigation data).
