Mother details dog attack on girl in Kurgan region

On the afternoon of January 20, in the village of Sadovoye, Ketovsky District, Kurgan Region, dogs attacked a seven-year-old girl. After the incident, the girl and her mother were hospitalized. The child«s mother told a 45.RU correspondent about the child»s condition and how it all happened.

The dogs attacked the child on Oktyabrskaya Street when she was walking home from school.

— «It happened during daylight. Usually she walks with her sister or brothers. But this time they were still at school. There was a pack of dogs on the street. My daughter says that they were barking and growling, but only a shepherd dog bit her. Neighbors were chasing the dogs away, and my husband also ran up and drove them off. He just wasn»t the first to arrive. At that moment, we immediately grabbed our daughter as she was and took her to the hospital,« the child»s mother recounts how it all happened.

First, the parents went to the Sadovskaya hospital, where the girl received first aid, a bandage was applied, and she was given pain relief. Then procedures were done at the trauma center of the children«s clinic on Koli Myagotina Street and she was sent to the regional hospital »Red Cross«.

— «They did a dressing change, the wound is large and lacerated, but not inflamed. Everything is fine. The edges of the wound were stitched up, and a drain was left in the middle. There»s an open fracture on the leg, a cast was applied. They«re giving injections, antibiotics according to the rabies protocol, and painkillers. For now, my daughter and I are in the hospital under observation, of course not going to school.»

The child«s mother says that by evening the girl was already talking and telling about what happened. According to the mother, dogs periodically run around the village; in the summer they were even caught. Then things quieted down somehow, but it happens that residents» animals escape or are free-roaming, but such large dogs are rarely seen in Sadovoye.

— «I myself have personally seen several times when going to work that a shepherd dog without accompaniment, without a muzzle, meaning the dog is running around on its own. The attacking dogs don»t look like strays; one of them had a collar. Stray dogs would be seen constantly, but these are temporary,« the girl»s mother says, adding that on that day the attacking dogs were seen in different parts of Sadovoye.

Now, representatives of the Investigative Committee of Russia (SKR) are working with the family, having involved the local police officer and representatives of the Commission on Juvenile Affairs (KDN), as well as the head of the district administration. On January 21, the head of the SKR, Alexander Bastrykin, asked for a report on the results of the investigation criminal case regarding the attack by unsupervised animals on a child in the Kurgan region.
