A deadly fire broke out in Tula on the night of 5 February, claiming the lives of two people — a mother and a child. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for Tula Region.

The fire occurred on the first floor of an apartment building on Oktyabrskaya Street. Within eight minutes, the first fire crews arrived and began fighting the blaze.

The fire raged over an area of about 5 square meters. Unfortunately, the arriving firefighters were unable to save the two people in the apartment — a 12-year-old child and a 40-year-old woman. They were found dead.

Seven firefighters and two pieces of equipment were deployed to extinguish the flames.

The cause of the fire is unknown. A fire investigator will determine it.

In Tula, the approach to forming municipal contracts for passenger transport will change from 1 March. Officials say the cost per kilometer will increase.
