Krasnoyarsk Krai schools face serious inspection after incidents

The regional authorities will handle the incidents that occurred within one day — an attack on a teacher in Kodinsk (Krasnoyarsk Krai) and an arson in Krasnoyarsk. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the regional government.

Governor Mikhail Kotyukov ordered talks with teachers and children in all schools in the region. Kotyukov also ordered a check of institutions« documents and to find out how preventive work with students is being conducted.

After the inspections, school principals will receive orders to eliminate all found shortcomings. The head of the regional Ministry of Education, Tatyana Gridasova, also addressed directors, teachers, and parents:

«Bullying in school is a serious problem that many children face. The task of adults in this situation is to help resolve children«s and adolescent conflicts. This can only be done together. To do this, it is necessary to combine the efforts of the school and the family and in no case avoid the conflict, pretending that nothing is happening. Otherwise, we will constantly encounter such high-profile events,» she said.

The Ministry of Education is dealing with both cases together with law enforcement agencies. In addition, Gridasova notes, psychologists have been brought in to work with children.

«In schools, mediation centers have been created, there is a deputy director for education, a psychologist, an advisor to the director for education. Now education is given great attention. There are many psychological help services for teenagers, a chatbot «Better to Know» has been launched in the TG channel for children,» she clarifies.

These two high-profile cases, the minister adds, showed that adults did not help children cope with difficult emotional states in time.

«Also, a video conference was held, during which we once again discussed with all deputy heads for social affairs, heads of education departments of municipal districts the need to carry out preventive work with schoolchildren and teachers not just formally, for reports, but fully, involving psychologists, parents, teachers, and if necessary, student activists,» Gridasova writes.

In addition, she mentioned that the main thing is to normalize the psychological climate in school teams where the tragedies occurred.

Earlier, the head of Krasnoyarsk, Sergey Vereshchagin, spoke about what happened at Pokrovskaya School. He mentioned, in particular, that the incident involved bullying that was not noticed by adults.
