Knife-Wielding Man Bursts Into Kindergarten in Orenburg Region

A knife-wielding man broke down the door and entered a kindergarten building in the city of Buguruslan, Orenburg Region. This was reported in the official Telegram channel of the press service of the governor and the regional government.

«A man with a knife broke into the preschool facility by breaking the door,» the statement said.

Tragedy was averted thanks to kindergarten teacher Liya Galeeva. She stood in front of the armed man and held him until a police squad arrived.

According to 56.RU, the heroine is 41 years old. She works at MBDOU (Municipal Budgetary Preschool Educational Institution) «Kindergarten for Care and Health Improvement No. 1» in Buguruslan.

Also, in connection with the incident, the alarm button was promptly activated. No children or staff members were injured.

«I thank everyone for their quick reaction and mutual assistance. The situation is under control. All emergency response services worked in a coordinated manner,» wrote the head of the city, Dmitry Dyachenko, on his Telegram channel.

Law enforcement agencies are working at the scene, and an investigation is underway. The regional governor, Evgeny Solntsev, has taken the situation under his control. Nothing is known yet about the motives or identity of the attacker.
