Heavy rains flood Oktyabrsky District, wash away bridges

The flood that began in Oktyabrsky District after heavy rains is weakening. Due to downpours, the Iren River overflowed its banks and even spilled over the dam, causing several villages to begin flooding.

On the evening of July 18, heavy rains caused flooding in the villages and settlements of Oktyabrsky District: Verkh-Iren, Atnyaguzi, and Mostovaya, as well as a strong flow of water downstream to Yenapayevo, Ust-Ariy, Koltayevo, Ishimovo, Samarovo, Urazmetyevo, Bikbay, and Biktulku. A state of emergency was declared across the entire district — there are still no official reports that it has been lifted.

The Perm Krai government reports that water is already receding from residential homes and plots. Specialists are monitoring the flood situation, and the governor of the Kama region, Dmitry Makhonin, ordered the region«s emergency services to join the rescue and recovery efforts.

The local administration and social workers are assisting residents whose homes were damaged — 36 families have applied for help. Currently, people are staying with relatives while damage and loss of property are being assessed in their homes. Victims will later receive financial aid.

Specialists from the Ministry of Transport and the Department of Highways and Transport continue to restore bridges and roads washed away by the flood. Two temporary bridges across the Alma and Ater rivers, installed during the capital repairs of the main ones, were swept away — they have been rebuilt and traffic is restored. The bridge in the village of Yenapayevo has also been repaired.
