Girl pulls iPhone 16 from arcade, gets chocolate and tantrum

A Krasnoyarsk girl playing an arcade machine in a store received something resembling chocolate instead of an iPhone 16, according to TVK journalists.

The grandmother of the nine-year-old girl, who allegedly won an iPhone 16, contacted the editorial office. The girl had played the machine for a long time at a store on 12 Partizana Zheleznyaka Street, where one game costs 50 rubles (about $1 at current rates). After a series of losses, luck «smiled» upon her and she managed to pull out the smartphone.

However, upon opening, the box did not contain the phone but something resembling chocolate shaped like the advertised device.
«The child had a tantrum. So, in this box is some kind of chocolate. There»s no writing anywhere: no markings, nothing. And it«s an awful color — not a chocolate color, but a sort of gray with an iPhone drawing. <…> Do you understand what»s happening to the child? It was such a tantrum. The two of us couldn«t calm her down. There are no words to describe this situation,» the woman from Krasnoyarsk told colleagues.
The woman added that the box itself had a QR code, which was supposed to lead to a website with prize information, but the link would not open. A phone number for the machine«s owner was also provided. The woman managed to reach him on the second try, and even then the man did not immediately understand what she was talking about.
As compensation, the girl«s family received one thousand rubles (about $11 at current rates) and that was it: no public apologies or the promised prize. Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) has taken up the issue. They asked the girl»s family to contact them through their website, as the agency plans to protect the girl«s rights as a consumer.
Furthermore, a NGS24.RU correspondent once noticed a notice on a similar arcade machine located in a Lenta store.
The notice stated that, due to numerous complaints, investigators (in the Omsk region — Ed.) demanded the removal of the arcade machines, as using gaming equipment for gambling, including with money, is illegal.
Earlier, NGS24.RU reported that a Krasnoyarsk policeman gave arcade machines to acquaintances that were material evidence in a case.
