Gasoline train derails and catches fire in Tambov

A freight train carrying gasoline derailed and caught fire at Kochetovka-2 station in Tambov Region on Wednesday, February 4, suspending eight trains including the Voronezh-Moscow service. No injuries were reported.

Cars of a freight train with gasoline derailed and caught fire at Kochetovka-2 station in Tambov Region at approximately 15:34 on Wednesday, February 4. This was reported by Russian Railways (RZD).

According to preliminary information, there are no casualties. Fire and recovery trains have been dispatched to the scene.

Due to the incident, the movement of eight trains has been suspended, including one from Voronezh:

No. 3 Kislovodsk–Moscow;

  • No. 27 Simferopol–Moscow;

  • No. 35 Adler–St. Petersburg;

  • No. 37 Imeretinsky Resort–Nizhny Novgorod;

  • No. 101 Adler–Moscow;

  • No. 139 Kislovodsk–Arkhangelsk;

  • No. 266 Moscow–Novorossiysk;

  • No. 739 Voronezh–Moscow.

    Currently, the issue of rerouting trains via an alternative route is being resolved. Passengers will be provided with all necessary assistance, and a comfortable temperature is maintained in the cars.

    The Voronezh investigative department of the Western Interregional Investigative Directorate for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia (SKR) has opened a criminal case into the derailment. Investigators have already left for the scene. The Michurinsk Transport Prosecutor«s Office is also conducting an inspection.
