Gas leak main theory in Borki house collapse; last check was in July
The main theory of investigators regarding the collapsed private house in Ryazan is a domestic gas leak. The last technical maintenance of gas equipment on 12th District Street in Borki was carried out six months ago — in July 2025. The YA62.RU editorial office found this out from an open document on the city gas company«s website.
For the entire street of 183 consumers, several days were allocated:
1 — 4 July.
7 — 11 July.
14 — 18 July
21 — 25 July.
28 — 31 July.
In-house gas equipment (VDGO) must be inspected at least once every six months. Specialists examine the equipment, the condition of the gas pipeline fastenings, and its tightness.
The results of the inspections are not publicly disclosed. YA62.RU journalists tried to find out the exact date and results from the press service of AO «Ryazangorgaz» (Ryazan City Gas).
«We cannot comment at this time. An investigation is underway, we are not allowed to,» replied the press service of the resource-supplying organization.
Residents of 12th District Street in Borki confirmed to YA62.RU that gas was indeed checked in their house and in the collapsed one last summer. Everything was in order, says neighbor Elena Sidorova.
«They checked ours just this summer. They said everything was fine. Nothing like this has ever happened in the settlement before,» the woman noted. Her house was damaged by slabs that flew off from the collapsed building.
When the next maintenance of gas equipment will take place in the Borki neighborhood is unknown. The officially published schedule for 2026 did not include the settlement at all.
