FSB Detains Police Officer in Nizhny Novgorod

An operational officer of the criminal investigation department of the transport police in Nizhny Novgorod has been detained by officers of the Federal Security Service (FSB). The regional directorate of the service reported that he is suspected of disclosing information constituting state secrets.
According to investigators, the police officer, who served in a linear department at the river port, violated the law by passing secret information to unauthorized persons. A criminal case has already been initiated against the detainee. Law enforcement officers are currently identifying possible accomplices and checking if there were other episodes of illegal activity.
As stated by the press service of the transport department of the Russian Interior Ministry for the Volga Federal District, an internal investigation is being conducted regarding the incident. If the employee«s guilt is confirmed, he will be dismissed from the internal affairs bodies.
Recall that last week, the FSB also detained Mikhail Shcherbak, a director of one of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom«s structures, on suspicion of transferring money to the accounts of a banned foreign organization.
