FSB Detains Nizhny Novgorod Transport Police Officer

Authorities have launched a criminal case over the suspected leak of state secrets by a transport police officer.

In Nizhny Novgorod, a transport police officer was detained. He is suspected of disclosing state secrets, according to the regional department of the Federal Security Service (FSB).

According to the investigation, the operative officer of the criminal investigation department of the linear police department at the river port violated Russian legislation and passed information constituting state secrets to third parties. A criminal case has been initiated against him. Currently, law enforcement agencies are searching for possible accomplices and establishing other episodes of the crime.

The press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs transport directorate for the Volga Federal District added that they are conducting their own internal service check. If the police officer«s guilt is confirmed, he will be dismissed from the internal affairs agencies.

At the end of last week, the FSB detained Mikhail Shcherbak, a director of a Rosatom structure, who previously worked in the administration of Sarov.
