Fridge repair brawl: 'Wish I bought new one'

A conflict occurred in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd between local resident Anna and a refrigerator repairman. According to the woman, the man began breaking the appliance instead of repairing it, and when she tried to record him on video, he knocked the phone out of her hand and started a fight. The incident happened in the presence of her 12-year-old son.

Recently, Anna«s refrigerator broke down. She asked a friend to find a repairman. The acquaintance found a specialist who agreed to do the job for 300 rubles ($3).

Anna recalls: «This man called me back himself, said he would come in an hour and a half. After an hour and a half, he calls and says he got delayed in the region and would only be free by 10 p.m., that it would be inconvenient. He promised to come the next day at 9 a.m., quickly do a diagnosis. And, if necessary, give me a lift to work in the city center, since I could be late.»

On the morning of July 21, suspicions arose: when she called the same phone number, an unfamiliar man answered. During the conversation, it turned out that Anna had been dealing with a different person. She asked if they were scammers, but the interlocutor reassured her and said he was in the Krasnoarmeysky district and could come faster.

In the end, it was this last interlocutor who came to Anna«s home, where she was with her 12-year-old son.

Anna describes his actions: «He takes everything out of the refrigerator, and I realize he is just starting to break it. He doesn«t even know how to remove the back panel! I say, »What are you doing?« — »Why are you interfering?« I went for my phone, said I would record him on video. I didn»t even have time to open the camera before he pushes me against the wall, I fly back, he snatches the phone from my hands and throws it into the hallway. Meanwhile, my minor child is in the apartment!»

After that, the repairman began gathering his tools and tried to leave the apartment.

Anna continued: «I slam the door shut, lock it, say I won«t let him out, and we literally start wrestling. He says to me: »What are you, a fool? Have you completely lost your mind?« He hits my arm, my leg, breaks out of the apartment, I fall onto the landing, and he runs away. Do you think that»s okay? To come into someone«s apartment, push and grab them, beat a woman? I have a bruise on my arm. This is lawlessness! He just finished breaking my refrigerator. I wish I had bought a new one...»

The woman stated her intention to contact the police. Information about the filed complaint and the measures being taken has been requested from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Volgograd Region (GU MVD).
