Four-year-old miraculously saved after dog attack in Moscow region

In the Moscow region, a dog attacked a four-year-old child and miraculously did not maul him to death. The animal bit off a piece of skin on the knee right down to the bone. Law enforcement agencies took up the incident after public outcry, MSK1.RU was informed by the father of the victim, Denis Grin.

It all happened in the closed cottage community of Mininskaya Polyana in the Ramensky District. On January 16 in the afternoon, Denis«s two sons (the elder is six years old, the younger — four) went to visit neighbors. When they arrived, they didn»t want to sit at home but to sled down a snow slide near their plot.

Denis returned home with his sons, changed their clothes, made sure the children got there safely, and there they were already awaited by a neighbor with three young daughters. During the children«s play, the neighbor»s youngest daughter got cold, and he quickly took her home. The neighbor«s property (already one plot away from Denis) borders the land of other residents of the community, and they have four large dogs living there.
“On the slide were the neighbor«s daughter and my two sons. The younger one slid down the slide, and at that moment, about 30–40 meters away, a gate opened, a Rottweiler ran out and headed towards the slide to them. It first tried to climb onto the slide itself, but my elder son took a tubing and threw it at the dog,” Denis told MSK1.RU.
Gaining time, the boy and girl ran onto the neighbor«s plot and started calling for help. But the little child remained below, and the huge dog turned on him and began to maul the boy.
The story could have ended in tragedy if not for another miracle. From the open neighbor«s gate, other dogs living with the same Rottweiler ran out. But they attacked not the child, but their own kind.
“My son said: ‘I saw that big dogs attacked this Rottweiler.’ He says he carefully stood up and slowly went to the neighbors« plot. Specifically, he says, he didn»t run, afraid that they would attack too,” the boy«s father Denis explained in a conversation with MSK1.RU.
The parents immediately ran to the neighbors past the fighting dogs and saw their bloodied child. The ear was badly torn, but the adults learned about the more serious abrasion only at their home.
“We saw blood near the ear, my son said that his leg hurt a lot,” Denis told MSK1.RU, “When we undressed him, we saw that, sorry, a piece of meat was missing. Then we called an ambulance and the police.”
In the footage, it can be seen that the dog bit off part of the skin just below the knee — right down to the bone. We had to blur the image — it shocked us so much. In total, the boy had about 25 stitches applied: 13 on the leg, 10-12 on the ear.
“Now, thank God, my son is feeling well: we do dressings, but he has a splint on his leg so he doesn«t bend it. He can»t walk, my wife and I bring him food and drink, we carry him to the toilet in our arms. We don«t go out of the house because of this,” adds Denis Grin.
On the weekend, there was no reaction from law enforcement agencies to what happened. On Sunday, Denis told about everything on social media, and it caused a big outcry. Now they promised to conduct a forensic examination. And the neighbor«s dogs along the line, according to Denis, have long bothered the residents of the community: only last year he finally built an enclosure.
“Before that, they ran freely around their plot, and not for the first time ran out onto the street. One of them about a year ago broke out, ran onto a neighbor«s plot, mauled a little goat. They ran in and just scared everyone around more than once, even ended up at our place. And another neighbor once stood at his gates, the dogs rushed and bit through his hand. True, he didn»t formalize it,” Denis Grin explains in a conversation with MSK1.RU.
Another story related to dogs happened in Moscow: in the southwest of the city a bag with animal body parts was found in the snow. But we also have positive stories: our colleagues from 72.RU told how a veterinarian saves horses, dogs, and cats from death.
