Ex-police officer imprisoned for fatal DUI crash

In court, it was established that in the early morning of October 19, 2024, in the town of Dalmatovo (Kurgan Oblast), the police officer, driving his Mazda 6, struck a pedestrian. The driver was traveling in the dark without turning on his headlights. The woman died from multiple injuries incompatible with life. The man fled the scene of the accident.
The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to seven years in a penal colony (colony-settlement), the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kurgan Region (SU SK Rossii po Kurganskoi oblasti) reported. Additionally, the convict was banned from driving and engaging in any activity related to vehicle operation for two years.
