Drunken attacker storms Buguruslan kindergarten, teacher injured

After a man broke into a kindergarten in Buguruslan (Orenburg Oblast) with a knife, two criminal cases have been opened. We detail the information known as of now.

As reported by the press services of the police and the Investigative Committee of Russia (SKR), at the time of the incident the 25-year-old attacker was drunk: he broke down a spare door and reached the second floor, where he was subdued by teacher Liya Galeyeva. According to our information, she sustained cuts to her hands while taking the knife from the attacker. No other staff members were injured, and the children did not witness the incident — they were sleeping during quiet time. The Investigative Committee confirms that Galeyeva received medical assistance, and the attacker waited for the National Guard and police in the basement.

According to 56.RU, the incident occurred at «Kindergarten No. 1 for Supervision and Health Improvement», located on Frunze Street. Kindergarten staff pressed the panic button as soon as they saw the unstable person — around 1:00 p.m.

Criminal cases have been opened on charges of attempted murder (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and negligence (Part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The attacker«s motive is still unknown — he was very drunk. Investigators and the inter-district prosecutor, Marsel Gumerov, are working at the scene. The progress of both criminal cases is under the supervision of the oversight agency on the instructions of the Prosecutor of Orenburg Oblast, Ruslan Medvedev.
— The inter-district prosecutor«s office will assess compliance with the requirements of legislation on the safe presence of minors in educational institutions. Based on the results of the inspection, the issue of taking a comprehensive set of response measures will be considered, — said the press service of the prosecutor»s office.
Recall that the head of Buguruslan, Dmitry Dyachenko, was the first to report the incident, noting not only the teacher but also the promptly responding emergency services. The situation is under the personal control of the Governor of Orenburg Oblast, Yevgeny Solntsev: he has already spoken with Liya Galeyeva — she will be awarded.
UPD:
The police released a video of the attacker«s detention: the music teacher Lyudmila Platonova, who helped Liya Galeyeva, said that he asked to… hide him. SHOT reports that he may be the son of the »best tax inspector.« The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, demands a report and ordered that Galeyeva be given a departmental award (and in the State Duma, they are asking that she also be recognized by the Russian Ministry of Education).
