Drunk driver extradited from South Africa to Siberia

A 37-year-old man has been extradited from the Republic of South Africa to the Irkutsk Region. He had been hiding from law enforcement since 2021. He was wanted for drunk driving, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Irkutsk Region reported.
In February 2021, the man, who had already been stripped of his driver«s license for drunk driving, damaged a car in the Berezovy microdistrict in Irkutsk and argued with the driver.
In a video published by the regional police press service, the man stated that on that day he was drunk, had a quarrel with his girlfriend, and got behind the wheel to leave. While reversing, he damaged someone else«s car.
When a criminal case was opened against him for repeated drunk driving, he left for Turkey, and then for South Africa, where he worked in real estate.
The man was found and, with the involvement of Interpol, returned to his homeland. Now he awaits trial.
