Drone attacks across Russia wound 11, prompt evacuations
Overnight on January 21, Russia was mass-attacked by drones from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In the Republic of Adygea, 11 people were injured, and in Krasnodar Krai, an entrance of an apartment building was evacuated.
In Adygea, the attack targeted the village of Novaya Adygea in the Takhtamukaysky District. A fire broke out there, affecting an apartment building. The fire also spread to a parking lot with cars. Emergency services are working on site.
«A door-to-door check is ongoing. According to preliminary information, 15 cars burned down, and 25 vehicles were damaged. We will begin assessing the damage in the morning.
To the scene of the emergency to coordinate the work of all services and agencies at my instruction, the chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Adygea, Anzaur Kerashev, as well as Minister of Health Rustem Meretukov and Minister of Labor and Social Development Djanbech Mirza have departed,» reported Murat Kumpilov, head of the Republic of Adygea.
Later, he provided exact figures on the wounded and said that a temporary accommodation point has been opened for all those in need.
«No one will be left alone with the disaster. Most importantly, there are no fatalities. According to updated information, 11 people were injured, of which 9 were hospitalized, including two children. I wish them a speedy recovery,» added Kumpilov.
The neighboring Krasnodar Krai also came under attack. Details were provided by the head of the region, Veniamin Kondratyev.
«Heads of cities and districts of Kuban are promptly reporting on the situation. The most serious one is currently in the Seversky District. There, in the settlement of Afipsky, fragments of a UAV fell on territory near an apartment building, one of them being a warhead. At the moment, residents of the 4-entrance, 177-apartment building are being evacuated for safety and to conduct demining. The area is cordoned off, and special services are working on site,» explained Kondratyev.
Also, two private houses were damaged in Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The district administration will help residents restore their property. In Sochi, fragments fell but caused no damage.
