Driver to stand trial for hitting cyclist
The St. Petersburg Prosecutor's Office has sent to court a criminal case against a 51-year-old driver who hit a cyclist on Leningradsky Prospekt.

In St. Petersburg, a criminal case against a 51-year-old local resident has been transferred to the Moskovsky District Court. The man is accused of violating traffic rules, which led to severe injuries for a 55-year-old cyclist.
The incident involved a Chevrolet vehicle hitting an electric bicycle on a major St. Petersburg avenue.
The traffic accident occurred on March 13 of last year on Leningradsky Prospekt near building No. 162.
According to the investigation, the driver of a Chevrolet car hit a man riding an electric bicycle while making a right turn.
As explained by the prosecutor«s office, the driver grossly violated the rules. »The accused, in violation of a number of traffic rules that allow driving through an intersection in the second lane from the right edge of the roadway only straight ahead, turned right and hit the electric cyclist,« the department»s statement notes.
As a result of the hit, the 55-year-old cyclist suffered severe harm to his health. Now the motorist will have to answer for his actions in court under the article on traffic rule violation that led to severe consequences through negligence.
