Driver Tears Car Door, Saves Unconscious Man

A driver in Nizhny Tagil saved another motorist by pulling him from a burning car just in time. Witnesses said he would have died without the rescue.

The car caught fire on 4 February at around 15:30 after a crash on Vostochnoye Highway. The rescuer saw the accident right in front of him.

«Everything happened so fast. We were driving toward it and saw that immediately after the collision the car burst into flames. No one got out. There was no movement at all, which alarmed us greatly because we knew the driver must still be inside,» the passenger said.
Her husband immediately reacted and ran to help. But he couldn«t open the car door — it was blocked by a snowdrift.
«There was no time to wait for rescuers — every second counted, so I had to decide to tear it off. By then, half the cabin was already in flames and thick acrid smoke. It was impossible to breathe. The driver of the burning car was unconscious. Whether from injuries, carbon monoxide, or all of it, one thing was clear: we had to get him out as fast as possible,» the eyewitness shared in the Incident Nizhny Tagil group.
It wasn«t easy, but the man managed to pull the driver out of the burning car. Luckily, no one else was inside.
«We did our best to give first aid to the injured driver until professionals arrived. We handed him over conscious. We hope he recovers soon,» the woman concluded.
The city«s State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (GIBDD) reported that two cars were involved in the collision. The driver of a Mazda Familia lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic, and hit a Lada Priora.
