Driver hits traffic police inspector in St. Petersburg

Investigative authorities in St. Petersburg«s Primorsky District have opened a criminal case into the use of violence against a government representative. This was reported on January 21 by the press service of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the city.

The incident occurred the previous morning in the courtyard of a building on Planernaya Street. The driver of a Haval vehicle, attempting to avoid detention, struck a traffic police inspector.

To stop the offender, officers used firearms, firing approximately 16 rounds that damaged the vehicle«s wheels and body.

After that, the driver abandoned the vehicle and tried to flee, but a passing janitor tripped him, allowing for his apprehension.

It was revealed that he had previously been deprived of his driver«s license and refused a medical examination. The suspect is currently detained, and a preventive measure will be selected for him in the near future.
