The disturbing video appeared in a local animal shelter«s community. The cat»s owner herself contacted animal rights activists.

— Good day, everyone. In Uryupinsk, an outrageous incident occurred, — the video caption reads. — Children tortured a nursing cat to death. They kicked her, threw her. After realizing she was dead, they decided to throw her into a trash container, then took her out again and threw her into a sewer, so to speak, trying to cover up their actions. All of this was captured on surveillance cameras.

The footage shows the children dragging the cat along a road, then one of them swings and throws the animal forward several times. The second child attempts to step on her. The children wander along the road with the cat until they reach trash containers — into one of which they toss the already dead animal.

Locals told V1.RU that these children often attract attention from adults precisely because of their outrageous behavior.

— The authorities simply refuse to act. I wrote to the juvenile affairs department, to the senior inspector, and got the response: «What, should they be shot?»

Uryupinsk residents also note that the boys« family is far from a model one, although there are four children in the family. Here is what one woman familiar with the situation writes:

— <...> They roam the neighborhood alone all day long. A week ago, I caught one of them climbing over the fence to the neighbors. The eldest son extorts money from children playing outside and threatens them. <...> I am not only afraid for my animals! I am afraid to let my child go outside!

V1.RU«s editorial office is checking with the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Volgograd Oblast whether complaints about the incident were filed with the police.

Recently, Volgograd animal rights activists demanded punishment for those responsible for the death of two dogs that fell from a seventh-floor balcony in Spartanovka. According to the complainants, the owners of the deceased animals were detained the same day but quickly released without opening a criminal or administrative case.
