Cat drug courier detained at Nizhny Novgorod prison

Employees of correctional colony No. 17 in the Krasnobakovsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region detained a cat that was trying to deliver prohibited substances to prisoners. According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service (GUFSIN) for the region, the cat was supposed to discreetly bring the drugs on its collar — inside which the criminals had hidden two bundles. The plan failed: the suspicious cat was noticed and detained by the institution«s employees. To determine the contents of the package, they brought in a dog named Foxy, trained to search for drugs. Examination confirmed that the bundles contained prohibited substances. »The fluffy offender was temporarily detained, his collar with substances was seized, examined, and after making sure everything was fine, he was released into the wild,« said representatives of IK-17.

Earlier, in early July, a car chase occurred in Kstovo (Nizhny Novgorod region). As a result, a criminal case was opened against one of the passengers — drug control officers found a bundle of powdery substance that turned out to be mephedrone.
