Captured white bear that attacked family to be sent to zoo

In Taymyr, a white bear that attacked a family of fishermen was captured. It was searched for more than two weeks — for this purpose, a group of biologists from the Moscow Zoo specifically came to the north of the krai. Together with specialists from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry of Krasnoyarsk Krai, they surveyed the area.
The animal was immobilized and transported by helicopter to Norilsk. After examination and rehabilitation, the bear will be sent to the Moscow Zoo.
«It was established that the bear is thin and has a damaged canine tooth. This, likely, caused difficulties in obtaining food and led to the bear approaching humans. Under such circumstances, considering that the bear has already made contact with humans at least twice in search of food, it would be impossible to exclude the repeated risk of the animal approaching humans,» said Tatiana Kuznetsova, deputy head of Rosprirodnadzor (the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage).
Earlier we reported that a white bear attacked a family of three people during fishing in the north of Krasnoyarsk Krai on January 5.
A man, his son, and nephew were engaged in fishing. All three sustained various injuries due to the attack. Our reader reported that the 42-year-old man had a torn shoulder, his 20-year-old son was injured the most — he has a scalp injury, and the 10-year-old boy got away with a torn lip. A 36-year-old woman was with them; she was not injured.
