Bashkortostan judge sentenced to 4.5 years for bribery

A Bashkortostan judge was sentenced to prison for bribery.
A judge from Bashkortostan accused of bribery was sentenced to 4.5 years in a general-regime penal colony. He was also fined 10 times the amount he was found to have received.
Notably, the convicted individual has been stripped of his judge status. However, in 2022, while still in office, according to investigators, he acted as an intermediary at the request of an acquaintance to transfer 100,000 rubles (approximately $1,100 at current rates) to the police to halt a criminal prosecution.
«He planned to keep part of the money for himself and pass the remainder to the investigator. But the investigator refused and reported the judge»s unlawful actions to the FSB Directorate for the Republic of Bashkortostan,« the press service of the republican Investigative Committee said.
According to UFA1.RU, the defendant was Marsel Bagautdinov, who worked at the Bizhbulyak Inter-district Court for 16 years. Before his trial, his acquaintance, who allegedly provided the bribe money, also received a sentence.
