Vereshchagin said he has tasked authorities with a detailed analysis of the incident, including evaluating the actions of school staff and addressing the issue of bullying. He also ordered a check of the school’s security measures.
The mayor stressed that priority should be given to providing medical and psychological assistance to the victims. “As a father, I fully understand parents’ anxiety. It is important to determine the teenager’s motives in cooperation with law enforcement. Systemic prevention and measures are needed to prevent such unacceptable incidents from recurring,” Vereshchagin said.
The horrific incident shocked Krasnoyarsk on 4 February: at School No. 153 in Pokrovka, a girl set fire to a toilet stall on the second floor, then burst into a math classroom and set a container of flammable liquid on fire.
Currently, three teenagers are in a burn center, and two others are hospitalized with injuries.
All available information about the incident, including the condition of the victims, is being collected in an online broadcast by NGS24.RU. The eighth-grade student is being interrogated by investigators.
