36-year-old driver dies in mass accident on Tyumen-Yekaterinburg highway

On Tuesday, January 20, a mass traffic accident occurred on the Tyumen-Yekaterinburg highway in Sverdlovsk Oblast. Unfortunately, there were casualties. As reported by our colleagues from E1.RU, a 36-year-old driver of a VAZ-2110 died.

Preliminarily, the man was driving from Tyumen and attempted to overtake, but on the oncoming lane collided with a Daewoo truck. Following them, MAN and DAF heavy trucks almost crashed into each other — the vehicles had to urgently drive into the ditch.

In addition to the deceased driver, there was a 28-year-old passenger in the VAZ-2110, a resident of Kamensk-Uralsky (Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia). He miraculously avoided injuries. According to the Ural resident, his friend skidded during the overtaking — the driver turned the steering wheel to the left, and then the car collided with the truck.

«The driver of the VAZ-2110 from Kamensk-Uralsky has 17 years of driving experience and has been held administratively liable for traffic violations 32 times,» said the Sverdlovsk State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI).

At the wheel of the Daewoo was a 24-year-old resident of Berezovsky (Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia), he has been driving for five years. In his record — six fines for traffic violations. He confirmed that he saw the VAZ-2110 start to skid, the driver tried to brake, but did not have time.

Among the most common causes of accidents are violation of right-of-way, failure to maintain distance or speed limits. Also, drivers often violate rules for pedestrian crossings and drive drunk.
