In Kurgan, the payment for a three-room apartment increased by almost one and a half times in just a month. The amount rose sharply for heating. Readers of 45.RU are sharing amounts in new bills and are perplexed how the calculations for January could differ so much from December«s.
«I always pay utilities in the app. In December 2025, for heating a three-room apartment alone, I paid 4,654 rubles (about $62 at current rates). In January, I will pay 7,036 rubles (about $94 at current rates). The amount is high. But what»s there to be outraged about? I«ll have to pay anyway,» said a reader of 45.RU.
Another reader is also shocked that for heating a two-room apartment in December 2025 she paid 3,805 rubles (about $51 at current rates), and for January 2026, she received a bill for heat amounting to 5,241 rubles (about $70 at current rates).
Previously, the Kurgan Generating Company explained that the lower the outdoor temperature, the higher the heating temperature.
«Residents of houses equipped with building-wide meters need to remember: the colder it is outside, the more heat is required to warm the premises. In December, thermometer readings often dropped below -15°C (5°F), which is significantly colder than November. The billing period for each house is individual and depends on the date when readings from heat energy meters are submitted by specialists from management companies,» noted the Kurgan Generating Company.
In January of this year, Kurgan experienced 30-degree frosts. For example, on January 15, the city had -36.6°C (-33.9°F).
Recall that from January 1, the maximum indexation of utility tariffs in Trans-Urals, as well as nationwide, was 1.7%. From October 1, indexation will be 12.4%.
