Investigators, Housing Inspection Find Samara Dormitory Horrors

After a publication by 63.RU about how people live in an almost destroyed dormitory in Samara, where major repairs are promised in 2051, the central Investigative Committee took notice. Investigators, police, local administration, and the State Housing Inspection (GZhI) visited the crumbling dormitory.

The building slowly decays as planned major repairs are postponed for 25 years.

Destruction of floor covering in common areas on the first floor;
Partial destruction of floors, instability with risk of collapse in the technical subfloor;
Destruction of common area ceilings — peeling of plaster, exposing and corroding rebar in common areas (toilets, showers, kitchens);
Cluttering of common areas with household garbage;
Improper maintenance of water supply lines — leaks in common toilets;
Malfunction of shut-off valves and drainage;
Absence of heating radiators;
Partial lack of heating in rooms;
Partial absence of window fillings in common areas;
Unsatisfactory maintenance of common areas;
Unsatisfactory maintenance of electrical equipment.
The management company «Gras» has been fined 250,000 rubles (about $2,800 at current rates), the State Housing Inspection of Samara Region reported.
The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Samara Region has opened a criminal case, added the Investigative Committee.
