In Yekaterinburg, a 58-year-old man was bitten by a spider on his balcony. He developed rapid swelling, followed by anaphylactic shock. Here is how doctors managed to save the man.

“The ambulance crew that arrived and specialists at Central City Clinical Hospital No. 24, where the man was taken, acted with lightning speed. Adrenaline, hormonal medications, and the doctors’ precise actions stopped the shock and stabilized the patient. The man is now undergoing planned treatment and recovery. He will not need a superhero suit anymore, but a careful attitude to his health — absolutely,” the regional Ministry of Health reported.

Medics explained how to behave after spider bites.

“If after a bite you feel increasing swelling, dizziness, nausea, a rash all over your body, or you have difficulty breathing — that is a signal that the ‘villain’ has launched a full-scale attack. Use your ‘ice weapon’: for a severe local reaction, you can apply cold (if there are no contraindications) to somewhat slow the spread of venom and reduce swelling. Call the real heroes: do not try to deal with anaphylaxis alone. At the first alarming symptoms, immediately call an ambulance,” the doctors noted.
