School No. 68 in Arkhangelsk has been switched to distance learning, along with 37 classes from other schools. This was reported by the Arkhangelsk administration.

The reason for the distance learning is the large number of infections with ARVI and flu.

«Currently, School No. 68 and 37 classes from various schools are on distance learning, while the city has 1,562 classes in total. This measure has impacted only a small percentage of students but has already demonstrated effectiveness. Reducing contacts helps decrease new infections,»
the administration reported, quoting Svetlana Bazanova, director of the education department.

According to the city administration, a class is sent to distance learning if 20% of its students are absent due to viral illnesses. If there are many such groups, Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) may issue an order to close the educational institution.

Recall that last week in the region, 9,745 cases of ARVI were registered (of which 253 cases were flu).

Despite the high incidence, many people carry colds «on their feet,» considering runny nose and fever insignificant symptoms. However, this tactic is the main mistake that can lead to serious consequences. We have already discussed why it is necessary to stay home at the first signs of ARVI.
