The disease first appeared in childhood, but did not progress for a long time. Now Artyom needs a complex bone marrow transplant, Artyom«s mother Lyudmila Gorbunova told the editors of 72.RU.

«I immediately started reading about this disease online, and it became terrifying. The ground simply fell out from under my feet. It said that adrenoleukodystrophy destroys the body. The destruction begins in the brain. Over time, the child goes blind and deaf. Then he stops walking, and eventually it is fatal,» Lyudmila says.

Now the boy«s relatives are raising money for his treatment — that is 22 million rubles ($244,400). Through social media, the Gorbunovs have managed to collect just over 500,000 rubles ($5,600) in a month.
