A mass flu illness at the Prokopyevsk boarding home has led to the creation of a new project related to the operation of such institutions. The essence of the innovation concerning patient health was explained in a conversation with NGS42.RU by Elena Voronina, Deputy Governor of Kuzbass for Social Issues.
Elena Voronina said that the incident at the Prokopyevsk boarding home was illustrative and raised thoughts about some shortcomings in the existing system, where outbreaks in similar institutions are reported only after five cases.
As a result of the incident, in Kuzbass, it was decided to develop a draft of a new order. Now, upon detection of even a single case of illness, both the hospital where the patient is hospitalized and the boarding home itself will be required to immediately report it to the regional Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Protection, to consider each case separately.
Earlier, boarding home workers in a conversation with NGS42.RU noted that the first illnesses among people in the institution began back in November. At that time, according to them, the first complaints of fever and runny nose appeared.
Meanwhile, the deputy governor said that the first hospitalization for acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI) of one of the patients occurred at the institution only on December 28. Also, according to information from the boarding home, all cases before the mass outbreak were isolated, and each sick person was sent to the hospital for treatment.
Moreover, the first person with signs of community-acquired pneumonia was admitted to the hospital on January 15, and the second case was detected two days later, after which the organization received an order and inspections began.
Earlier, we reported on the mass illnesses at this institution and the deaths there, who were buried in the forest, near the boarding home.
Also, all news related to the operation of the boarding home, we are collecting in a separate story.
