Mother Describes Losing Unborn Child and Fertility
Former prosecutor«s office employee Lyubov Merkulova lives in a small village in the Volgograd Region. Nearly three years ago, she barely survived a severe operation, but her unborn daughter drowned due to internal bleeding. Merkulova herself might not have been saved. “Thank God the head doctor was on duty — we usually don’t save people like you,” she was told in intensive care. The 37-year-old Lyubov will never be able to give birth again after that operation.
She spoke about the tragic day and its consequences in a video.
“The baby died, but I saw it was already swimming in blood. It was detached. There was a total placental abruption,” said Lyubov Merkulova. “They made me walk up to the third floor. The head doctor I know shouted: ‘Why not on a gurney?! She has placental abruption.’ The doctors told me it was a miracle I survived in such a situation. I lost almost all my blood. I really came back from the dead. [In the documents] there is a note that on 17 May there were no pathologies. I wasn’t even at an appointment on 17 May — how can that date appear in the conclusion?”
Lyubov still hopes to achieve justice.
