A fairly powerful magnetic storm will hit the Earth on the morning of July 22. It will last about six hours, according to a warning from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Institute of Space Research (IKI) and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics (ISZF).

The peak of the storm will occur between 6:00 AM and noon. Its intensity is estimated at G1.3 — considered a weak level but still significantly higher than normal solar activity.

«Another solar coronal hole is heading toward Earth, with a stream of fast wind set to reach the planet on July 22. Typically, coronal holes are relatively compact objects, which leaves uncertainty: will the wind pass above or below the planet? In this case, the Sun decided not to torment forecasters and «drew» a hole from pole to pole, so it will definitely hit. Under these conditions, a meeting with a stream of disturbed plasma appears inevitable,» specialists explain the cause of the storm.
After the flare on July 22, the following month will be calm — no powerful solar flares are expected until August 20.
A magnetic storm is a disturbance of the Earth«s magnetic field caused by streams of charged particles ejected by the Sun. When these particles reach our planet, they interact with the magnetosphere, causing fluctuations and changes in its structure. At such times, people may experience headaches, weakness, or irritability. Those who are weather-sensitive are particularly susceptible to these changes. Additionally, magnetic storms can affect navigation systems, radio communications, or cause disruptions in electronics.
