Hepatitis A is an acute infection that affects the liver. According to the press service of the Novosibirsk Region Office of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing), the disease is transmitted via the fecal-oral route.

Hepatitis A can be contracted through unboiled water, unwashed vegetables and fruits, dirty hands, and other sources. Symptoms do not appear immediately, but after 15–50 days after infection: fever, weakness, nausea, pain in the right upper abdomen, jaundice.

One of the most effective ways to prevent diseases is immunization. In addition, specialists recommend thoroughly washing hands, using only clean water for drinking and cooking, and subjecting food, especially seafood, to heat treatment.
