The first case of swine flu has been identified in Tomsk Oblast; 12 cases of Hong Kong flu have also been discovered, reports the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.

Over the past week (January 19-25), 4,731 cases of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) were registered in the region. Tomsk leads in the number of hospital visits — almost three thousand cases. However, the weekly epidemic threshold for the region has not been exceeded.

During the past week, as part of state monitoring, Tomsk doctors recorded cases of COVID-19, rhinovirus, and bocavirus. In total, 67 cases of flu were confirmed over the past week. Among them, 12 cases of influenza type A (H3N2) — Hong Kong flu — and 1 case of type A (H1N1) — swine flu — were laboratory-confirmed.

Additionally, one small school in the Parabelsky District and two small kindergartens in the Kargasoksky and Alexandrovsky Districts have been completely closed in the oblast.

In early January, a case of tuberculosis was detected in a student at Tomsk School No. 25. The child was suspended from classes, and the school premises were disinfected. How tuberculosis can be contracted and what consequences refusing vaccination can lead to — read our article.
