Flu persists, quarantines close classes in Udmurtia

Over 10,000 cases of acute respiratory viral infections have been reported in the Udmurt Republic, prompting the closure of 24 school classes and 17 kindergarten groups.

In the Udmurt Republic, the number of ARVI cases from 19 to 25 January 2026 reached 10,533 people. Quarantine has been introduced in some educational institutions, the press service of the regional branch of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) reported.

The highest incidence rates were recorded in the Zavyalovsky, Vavozhsky, and Malopurginsky districts, as well as in the cities of Izhevsk and Mozhga. For instance, in Izhevsk, the number of patients diagnosed with ARVI in the fourth week of 2026 was 5,902 people.

In addition, residents of Udmurtia continue to contract the flu. The current number of patients with this diagnosis stands at 415 people.

Due to the outbreak of colds, 24 classes in 20 schools and 17 groups in 16 kindergartens have been quarantined. The educational process has been completely suspended in three schools in the Grakhovsky, Seltinsky, and Yarsky districts.

Rospotrebnadzor reminds the public: during the cold and flu season, wash your hands often and thoroughly, wear a mask in crowded places, and avoid contact with those who already show signs of illness.
