Family accuses Novokuznetsk maternity ward
The family of a pregnant Novokuznetsk woman blames doctors at Roddom No. 1 (Maternity Hospital No. 1) for the brutal death of a premature infant. A video in which relatives claim the child’s arm was allegedly torn off and the mother was insulted was posted on social networks on Tuesday, 23 September.
A young woman in the video introduced herself as the purported sister of one of the patients of the maternity ward based at Gorbolnitsa No. 1 (Novokuznetsk City Hospital No. 1) on Sechenov Street. According to the resident’s unverified account, the day before the woman in labor arrived at the admissions department of her assigned facility with contractions at 21 weeks and was immediately taken to the delivery room.
The family accuses the specialists of allegedly being able to stop the contractions and of tearing off the baby’s arm during delivery.
«During pushing they literally put their hands inside my sister and began pulling out what at that moment was still a living baby, but they tore off an arm and the baby died from that. The doctors wrapped the baby in some rags, laid her on my sister’s chest, turned her face and said: “Look, your dead girl.” They told her: “Twenty-seven? Not working? Busy giving birth? You must not have really wanted her, since she was born dead,”» says the woman in the video.
The city resident then blames the doctors for allegedly insulting the patient and performing procedures carelessly.
«At the moment, about 12 hours have passed, the baby’s body was taken for tests, and a statement to the police will be filed as soon as my sister is able to do so,» the resident said.
It should be noted that the woman in the video did not identify herself or give her sister’s first and last name.
The NGS42.RU editorial team sought comment from the maternity ward mentioned in the video but was unable to obtain a prompt response. We sent an official written request to the medical facility.
In the comments under the post, subscribers shared a screenshot of a message purportedly written by City Hospital staff and later deleted. It stated that the facts had been checked and were not confirmed:
«The medical organization has photo and video evidence proving the falsity of the information. The patient received medical care in accordance with clinical guidelines.»
The press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia (Sledkom) reported that staff in Kemerovo Region (Kuzbass) had gone to the medical facility to check reports of doctors’ negligence. If the facts are confirmed, the agency will open a criminal case.

Novokuznetsk Hospital No. 1, on the basis of which the maternity ward operates, commented under our post.
Staff write that the facts described in the video were allegedly not confirmed during an internal review; which ones were not is not specified. According to the doctors, they have photos and videos indicating the opposite — the medical team did everything in accordance with recommendations for a complicated pregnancy.
«The patient, having signed a refusal of further treatment, left the inpatient facility without completing the necessary treatment,» the hospital’s press service writes.
