Elderly cancer patient in Volgograd not receiving treatment

In Volgograd, the daughter of a 73-year-old woman with cancer cannot secure the start of therapy for her mother. According to Marina, at Clinic No. 4, where the patient was referred from the oncology dispensary, the budget for conducting tests has been exhausted, and the CT scan machine is not working.
The tests are urgently needed to determine the specific type of cancer, which is a mandatory condition for prescribing further treatment at a specialized dispensary.
Marina explained that the initial diagnosis of «female cancer» was made in the summer of 2025. «Back then, the clinic also didn»t give a referral to the dispensary; they wanted to clarify the diagnosis first. But the treatment went well. And now, after another X-ray, unfortunately, they saw metastases in the lungs. We quickly sent my mother to her oncologist at the dispensary. There, they gave a referral to the clinic. There, she was also sent to an oncologist—a ridiculous procedure from one doctor to another! And that«s when the oncologist told her that the money for tests at the clinic had run out. And in general, the money has run out—while the administration spends millions on decorating the city!»
A separate problem is the need for a computed tomography scan. «The queue for a CT scan is until March, and even then the machine is broken! Cancer doesn»t tolerate delays; time is working against the patient; we can«t wait here. All this running around from oncology to the clinic and back is terrible! They don»t want to redirect us to another clinic and don«t explain why—they never explain!» added the patient«s daughter.
Journalists have contacted the healthcare committee of the Volgograd region with a request to verify the information about the lack of funding for tests, the broken tomograph, and the reasons why the patient cannot be referred to another medical institution.
