Dietitian: These Desserts Won't Hinder Weight Loss Even on Strict Diet

Weight control always involves dietary restrictions. The first thing that those trying to lose weight try to give up is sweets. However, glucose must be present in the diet because it is necessary for brain function. But which sweets exactly won«t harm your figure?
— The brain needs glucose, but it is also produced from complex carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, and proteins, — says Anna Brazhnikova, a dietitian at the Federal Clinical and Scientific Center of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FKNTS FMBA).
So it is entirely possible to give up added sugar and sweets completely if that«s easier for you. Sweets are not a mandatory source of glucose, but for many they are important products in the diet because they can bring pleasure.
— If you want to lose weight but don«t want to give up sweets, you shouldn»t completely eliminate desserts from your diet, but their quantity should be measured, — says dietitian Anna Brazhnikova of the FKNTS FMBA. — It«s better to eat sweets in the first half of the day. For those losing weight, sweets containing no more than 150 kcal per 100 grams are suitable.
You can have these! Sweets allowed for weight loss
Dark chocolate — one of the most popular treats even on a strict diet. It contains magnesium, iron, zinc, and flavonoids, which can support cognitive function and act as antioxidants. It is recommended to eat 10–15 grams (1–2 squares).
Harmless sweets for those losing weight — marmalade and jelly. It«s better to choose products based on natural fruit juice without flavorings and thickeners. Marmalade contains vitamins C, A, E, and B group. The fruit-based product is rich in microelements such as potassium, magnesium, iron, selenium, phosphorus.
Another dessert allowed during a diet — marshmallow. Its advantage is the absence of fats: it contains fruit puree, a small amount of sugar, and proteins. It«s important to note, that marshmallow can be high in calories — it»s important to check the composition.
Pastila (fruit leather) based on apple puree without sugar — a find for people watching their weight. Its calorie content varies between 50–60 kcal, which allows for variety in a diet.
Instead of classic ice cream, you can treat yourself to sorbet. The average calorie content of a dessert made from frozen berries and fruits is 70 kcal.
You can also occasionally allow yourself dried fruits or a teaspoon of honey if you have no allergic reactions to it.
A complete refusal of sweets negatively affects a person«s emotional state. This is because they stimulate the production of serotonin, explains the dietitian. So if you can»t imagine life without sweets, just choose desserts wisely.
Earlier an expert told how many kilograms you can lose if you walk your dog every day. Systematic activities with your pet, training, and active games twice a day prevent the accumulation of visceral fat — this type of fat surrounds internal organs. Over a year of daily walks you can gradually lose up to 6–8 kilograms (13–18 lbs) without exhausting diets provided you have a balanced diet.
