For the past six months, Yekaterinburg resident Anna has been trying to figure out how a diagnosis that would stop any parent’s heart appeared in her daughter’s electronic medical record. The ultrasound results stated that signs of cancer had been detected. In reality, the little girl is healthy, and the examination revealed no alarming signs. Now the parents are trying to find out who entered the false data.

Anna and her husband endured a stressful night without answers before going to the clinic the next morning.

In August 2025, Adelia turned one month old, and Anna took her daughter to the clinic for a routine checkup. This is a mandatory examination by doctors of various specialties, including ultrasounds of the brain, hip joints, heart, abdominal organs, and kidneys. During the checkup, the doctor said everything was fine and the girl was developing according to her age.

However, a few days later, a conclusion appeared on the Gosuslugi portal that stated in black and white: «Sonographic signs of oncological diseases have been detected.» The document was signed with the electronic signature of the department head.

Sonography is another name for ultrasound examination.

«To say we were shocked is an understatement. It was evening, and the clinic was no longer answering. This document, mind you, was signed with the electronic signature of the department head. My husband and I controlled our emotions. Our parents calmed us by saying that with such a diagnosis, we wouldn’t have been released from the hospital. But it was still extreme stress,» Anna recalls.

The next morning, Anna and her husband went to the clinic to understand whether their daughter was really okay and to sort out the situation. There, they were directed to the department head, who, according to them, «met them with wide eyes» and stated that she had not signed any such document.

As it turned out, the local hospital system displayed the child’s data correctly—Adelia is healthy. But why the false diagnosis appeared on Gosuslugi, no one could explain. The employee responsible for information resources suggested that the system had «mixed in» data from another child.

«Allegedly, part of the data was ours and part was from another child, although the medics themselves note that the name Adelia is rare, and it’s unclear how this happened. The clinic said it wasn’t their mistake, but the system’s, which generated this document. But what system that is—I never understood. They promised to resolve the issue, we were reassured that the child was fine, and we went home,» says Anna.

Five months have passed since then, and the document on Gosuslugi is still there. Anna decided to get to the bottom of the story so that the system error would be fixed and other families wouldn’t experience similar paralyzing fear.

Anna filed a complaint with the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk Region and left a request on the Gosuslugi portal. From there, her query was redirected back to the 15th Hospital. On January 23, she received a call from the clinic and was told that they had «sent a request to fix the shortcomings.» But there are no specifics.

The hospital administration refused to comment on the situation to E1.RU. They promised to conduct an internal investigation based on the appeal.

«If the mother has questions, she can contact the clinic administration. We do not disclose the results of the investigation to third parties,» the hospital responded.

When Anna receives responses from the Sverdlovsk Ministry of Health and Gosuslugi, we will update the article.

Updated.

After the article was published, Anna received a response from Children«s City Hospital No. 15. They reported that they had checked the documents and confirmed that their system contains the correct doctor’s conclusion stating that the girl is healthy.

«The cause of the situation was a technical error on the side of MIS ECP (the Medical Information System, the Unified Digital Platform — Ed.) in the process of transferring electronic data from MIS to REMD (the Register of Electronic Medical Documents — Ed.) and the EPGU account (the Unified Portal of State Services — Ed.),» the hospital replied to Anna.

The medical institution also reported that they had filed a request describing the problem to the technical support service of the medical information system.
