Yaroslavl residents embrace city electric trains at peak hours

In the seven months since Yaroslavl«s city electric trains began operating, 79,000 passengers have taken trips. The most passengers departed from Lipovaya Gora station (21,500), Dunayka (11,700), and Yaroslavl-Glavny (11,400). The most popular was the morning train No. 6917/6918 from Telishchevo to Filino.

In January 2026, railway workers transported 10,600 passengers.

Since July 1 last year, ten additional trains have been added during peak hours to the 39 suburban trains passing through Yaroslavl. They connected the Zavolzhsky and Frunzensky districts with each other and with the city center. In September, a new stop, Sokol, was opened. The development of commuter rail services within the city is a joint project of the Northern Railway and the Yaroslavl Regional Government. A single city fare of 42 rubles (approx. $0.46 at current rates) applies to all suburban rail trips within Yaroslavl.

Tickets and schedules are available in the mobile apps «RZD Passengers» and «ProTransport», the Telegram bot «RZD Electric Trains», at ticket offices, and onboard when boarding. More information can be found on the official website of Russian Railways (RZD) in the «For Passengers» section, on the carrier«s website sevppk.ru, on information boards at stations, and by calling the RZD Customer Support Center at 8 800 775-00-00 (24/7, toll-free for all regions of Russia).

The Northern Railway informs passengers: when purchasing tickets onboard upon boarding at the stations Filino, Privolzhye, Yaroslavl-Glavny, and Yaroslavl, an additional fee of 30 rubles (approx. $0.33 at current rates) is charged to all categories of passengers for the ticket issuance service. Therefore, it is more advantageous to buy tickets through apps or at ticket offices operating at these stations.
