A photo zone with the «Podzelenye» sign and benches is being dismantled on Yaroslavl’s Central Beach. It appeared in 2018, when Podzelenye Park along the street of the same name was to be renovated. At the time, a project was even created with numerous wooden decking areas and hammocks. The idea belonged to young architects, who wanted to realize it as part of the «Create Your Space» festival.

City officials plan to replace the wooden lettering with a new frame.

But funding was found only for the sign, with letters 3.5 meters (about 11 ft 6 in) high and 25 meters (about 82 ft) long. It also served as benches, which was very convenient on a hot, sunny day in the middle of the beach.

«There will be a new wooden frame,» the Yaroslavl mayor’s office replied about the sign’s fate.

Besides the bench photo zone, the park is also planning to update lighting and install video surveillance. For these works, they are looking for a contractor willing to pay 36.6 million rubles (about $460,000 at current rates).
