Yaroslavl Oblast Increases Payments to Contract Soldiers

In Yaroslavl Oblast, the one-time payment for servicemen who sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense has been significantly increased. Governor Mikhail Evraev stated: “Now soldiers who go to the special military operation zone from our region will receive 1.6 million rubles ($16,800 at current rates), including federal payments.”
The increase will apply to those who sign a contract starting 5 February 2026. Previously, the payment amount was 1.1 million rubles ($11,600 at current rates).
Families of contract soldiers in the region have a broad package of benefits, including:
- exemption from fees for meals in schools and kindergartens;
- cancellation of the transport tax;
- priority right to receive social services.
For the servicemen themselves, medical rehabilitation and additional payments in case of injury are provided.
